Wise words. The whole opposites attract shtick is a commodified version of beauty and the beast, minus dancing candlesticks. Either party can be beauty or beast but my guess is it’s usually woman who are most invested/lose the most to the myth this unsuitable other is gonna turn into a prince (or princess).

Having a relationship with someone you just like and have stuff in common with (you know, like a friend) doesn’t offer the same emotional rollercoaster that we’ve been wrongly taught to identify as love.

But it is a hell of a lot more conducive to long-term happiness and sanity…
