I encounter the same in my classes, though my students' declarations of faith are mostly about how having more guns would make us safer, and why women who are irresponsible enough to have sex should be forced to carry pregnancies to term (and if it’s a case of rape, should be grateful to at least get a baby out of the deal).
The silver lining, so far (if it counts as such) is there seems to be a proportional relationship between half-cracked ideology and writing ability. True believers struggle to form a coherent written argument. Thus far, I’ve been spared handing out an A for anything repugnant.
